Thank you folks who got your apps in before the deadline and for working so hard on them, you guys did a spectacular job! However, for the people who did not manage to scramble in before then, apps are closed until after the opening plot. I repeat, do not submit your applications to us until the note on the apps page is taken down.
The character chart is now unlocked! Hopefully it is to everyone's satisfaction. I did the best I could with the pictures I could find/you guys gave me. Honestly, looking at it, I'm really excited about the gender and ethnic diversity that you can already see there. It's a pretty good mix at the moment and that's kind of neat.
Please go accept your comm invitations, run the f-list builder, and check the game. The first few plot threads are up, have at them. Tomorrow we'll be tagging in with the NPC pilots and aliens for you all to battle.
I'm going to update the contact chart tomorrow too, I'm beat. We'll also deal with holds/extensions then.

It was pointed out to me just now that Ash's entry is locked and I have several other people friended on this journal who she doesn't, so I am going to re-post the entry she made last night about some of the character tropes we are already tired of seeing! You guys have done an amazing job of getting your apps in, though. Good work!

I'm apparently in a sassy mood tonight, so sorry if this offends people. A few things, though:
*Please please please please PLEASE for the love of God guys, do not bring in inside jokes from other games to this game. I know that everyone under the sun except for me finds saying "bro" as often as possible to be the height of hilarity but that really should not be transferring from games having nothing to do with Dread into Dread. I'm starting to get an eyetwitch with how much I'm seeing it, please don't put it in stuff unless you want me actually IMing you and saying STOP IT STOP IT STOP IT.
*One more time: any current pilots who are not apped by tomorrow night will not be current pilots on the squads, and we might not let you have them as future pilots. Really that is dependent on Zo because I am saying that they shouldn't be. It's throwing us in a crap position because we have to create NPCs to play in the opening plot that we weren't planning on playing, and we have to scramble to reorganize things. Appers of Adrenaline, Alpha, Jaeger, Picasso, Vandal, and Stonewall, I'm looking at you. If you know that player and know they aren't friended to me, tell them I'm why their ears are burning.
*If you're wondering if there's any concepts and quirks that you should avoid due to due to the number of them currently in game, here are a few: gay people, people who have lost someone/something/etc and have lost faith in god because of it, talented musicians/artists. You can still app those things duh, we won't look at you weird for it, but if you're trying to avoid doing things that others are doing, that's what we're seeing big trends with. Especially the gay, for the love of god. Big gay cruise ship in space.
*We toootally understand the pilots all generally being pretty headstrong and cocksure, it makes sense especially with them at the level that they're at. But we are getting way too much stuff about pilots not wanting to take orders or veering off to do their own thing or being unpredictable in the air, etc etc etc. That won't work. Like...for real. This is the military, guys, they don't exactly look favorably on that kind of crap. And that should definitely not be in them by this point in time.
AS FOR THE OPENING: I am going through apps right now and when Ash gets back from her wedding, we'll get started on kicking off the game opening. Please be patient, it will start tonight! If you happen to go to sleep before, however, don't be too worried. It'll all still be there for you tomorrow, and the opening will last all weekend. |

Sorry for spamming today but:
Change of plans. We're supposed to get mad snow tomorrow, so I'm gonna pack up and leave after my final today. Wish me luck because I've never driven home in the dark and I will probably be pretty tired so I might die.
I have grades for geog, medieval lit, and the Joyce seminar: all A's. I got a 72% on the EGEE final, apparently, which puts my final grade at like 80% it looks like. :\ Oh well, it's my fault for not studying and always forgetting to take the online quizzes. As long as I actually manage to graduate college, I'm not really concerned about my grades, but it's still kind of a bummer. I hope I do well on the mythology final so I can get at least a B. I actually might be put on probation from the honors college next semester because my GPA is already pretty close to the minimum (which is like a 3.5 or some shit) and this will pull it down. I'm not sure what that'd entail since I'm graduating (hopefully) at the end of next semester and also I'm supposed to be doing my thesis. If I'm on probation do I not do it?
ETA: Hmm, apparently my GPA as of last semester is 3.73. So either the minimum is something ridiculous like 3.7 or I'm farther from it than I thought.
ETA2: Just sold my mythology text back for $30, bringing my total sell-back cash to $113.75. Baller. |

Well, I just posted a note in the OOC comm, but figured I'll mention it here too.
I have officially taken my leave from Neo. It was a decision I put off for a loooong time, because I had just so much fun at that game, and I enjoyed the players I met there so much, and I loved my characters. But the truth is I just haven't been able to get back into it, even with my best intentions. The game moved on without me, and I just couldn't figure out how to reincorporate.
Nick was the first guy in Magic, and I really wanted to see him through to the end, but it's become impossible. I'm moving to New Zealand on January 11th, and that plus the preparations beforehand would make me unable to participate in the final plot. All the plots lately haven't worked out with RL timing for me, and this one was the biggie. There was just no point putting it off any longer if I can't be a part of it.
So I just want to say thank you to all the players I met at Neo. You are all amazing writers and hugely inspiring. I hope your creativity takes you far, because it has been a joy to read your stuff and interact with your myriad of interesting characters. I'll see you around the CDJ block, and I hope very much to play with you all again sometime.
A special thanks to the players of (I don't know everyone's CDJ, otherwise I'd specifically say names :[) the LEFG, Toni, Annie, Greta, Quinn, Christian, Jamie, Agnes, Fergus, Saoirse, and Regina, because you were all key to how great and enjoyable Nick was, and in the end, he was easily the one I think of when I think of Neo. Although Esme was a great amount of fun, and for her a special thanks to the players of Dean von Kyphos, Judy, Quinn again, and Professor Jones.
Finally, thank you to the mods, Julie, Ryan, Sarah, and Emily, for creating such a fabulous and intricate game!

Pretty sure I just rocked the shit out of my Medieval Lit final, and I got back the rush job paper afterwards. I got an A-, with which I am more than happy. Should be on track for an A in that course. Just checked my semester grades: nothing yet for the only other class I've taken a final in so far, but evidently I got a good grade on my Joyce paper because I got an A for that course as well.
Two more finals to go. One's later today, at 2:30, and one's at like 4:40 tomorrow. The geography one, which is the one later today, should be okay. Even if I don't do particularly well on the final, I have a 90% average for the tests, and the lab, in which I'll definitely have near 100% unless I bombed the final report, is 50% of the whole grade. I'm kind of worried about the mythology final, though, because those exams have been retarded thus far, and also (or, if we're being honest, primarily) because I barely did any reading. But we're allowed to have a cheat sheet, which should make up for things slightly. Need to write that out tonight or tomorrow.
Returned all my books but the mythology one the other day and made back $83.75. That's enough to buy me like an eighth of weed, two handles of liquor and some pizzas. I hope to spend most of break trashed. Can't wait to get the fuck out of here. Gonna try to do most of my packing tomorrow night. Might even load some stuff in the car, probably the TV and the TV stand, maybe clothes and shit too, then drive it back to the lot that night. Then I'll just need to load the computer and shit on Saturday.
I wrote a little for Jake last night, and I aim to get him finished and sent in today at some point. Then I guess I should hold Johnny (if that is to be his name) and get started on that? After I get home I should also start thinking more seriously about those other two ideas I had. I liked the flight controller idea for Matthew Goode, and I think I'm gonna go with the name Eli for him; it seems to fit for some reason. Still need a last name and... pretty much everything else, but a PB, a first name, and an occupation are a pretty good start, for me at least. I'll see what I can do about those drabbles, too, holiday and otherwise. I generally enjoy writing them, but sometimes it's hard to find inspiration, and I worry about characterization with dudes that don't belong to me. OH AND I NEED TO DO SNAPS TOO. DON'T LET ME FORGET. |
